  1. A peaceful ambience you can focus on to the mass. One of the best churches to offer your prayers & concentrate on the Eucharistic service.

  3. My father (Eric Sutherland Bateman) was christened at this wonderful church on 28th July 1910, is there a possibility that records of that time still exist, if so is there a way of obtaining a copy? Any help you could give would be appreciated.

    Thank you

  4. I would have really treasured the old marble altar of St. Philip Neris, Pettah. This has been the centre of all missionary activities at the beginning of the Archdiocese of Colombo. With regard to the architectural changes done in the Sanctuary I lament as they have not continued the rest of the architecture of the Divine edifice. This has been the case in many churches in the Arch diocese of Colombo where they made changes after Vatican II. Some of those changes are operated without any idea of what the council really meant. It is a sad state of affairs. I wish a thorough study be done in order to remedy such mistakes as it directly affects the faith of the people.
